About J.A.Ware
"My paintings are an extension of the peace I experience while working in my studio. Painting has become a very positive meditative experience for me, one where I am in a state of "no mind" for hours at a time. The abstract orb paintings relate to the quest for a higher level of consciousness, the desire we have as spiritual beings to surface from our unconscious, asleep selves. The sunset paintings are inspired by my physical environment. I have a deeply-ingrained need to live surrounded by land. I live close to St. Louis, Missouri (on the Illinois side of the Mississippi River) and can see The Arch from the end of my driveway, yet I live in a rural enclave surrounded by woods and fields of corn, soybeans and wheat. It is in this nourishing setting that I experience daily a wonderful variety of sunrises and sunsets. Painting them has been a joy. More recently I have been doing portraits and I have included some of those.”
J.A. Ware grew up in Iowa, moved to California to obtain a degree from Stanford University, obtained her M.D. Degree from the University of Illinois, her Board Certification in Family Practice in a residency associated with Southern Illinois University, and then settled in southwestern Illinois on 40 acres of land in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Living in this beautiful Midwestern landscape has had a significant impact upon what she visualizes and paints.
Always passionate about art and doing creative pursuits since her youth, J.A.Ware took a path which was very time-consuming in a technical/scientific field. Once she retired from being a physician she was able to dedicate her focus and energy upon painting. She obtained fine arts training at Southwestern Illinois College and then dedicated herself to painting in oils. She took workshops where she felt she needed further technical instruction, and continued to paint.
She has received three best of show awards and has paintings hanging in collector's homes in Egypt, Florida, California, Illinois, Phoenix and Boston.
Her interests include bicycling, swimming, hiking, and reading. She is married and has three children.
